The Hanson House

Originally built in 1890 as the home of lumber baron Rasmus Hanson and his family, the Hanson House Bed and Breakfast has withstood the test of time. Now, as a historic showplace in Grayling, Michigan, the Hanson House boasts many structural and cosmetic improvements that preserve its history and prepare it for serving generations of future guests.

While maintaining the ambiance and charm of days gone by, this bed and breakfast provides its guests air conditioned guestrooms with private en-suite bathrooms, large flat screen TV’s, WIFI, safe electric fireplaces, hand carved mahogany king and queen beds, high end linens, plush microfiber robes, and other luxury amenities. Also included with your stay is a sumptuous candlelit breakfast. Recent renovations focus on improving the comfort of guests while preserving the natural woodwork, 11′ ceilings, tall pocket doors, multiple hand carved oak fireplaces, and elegant staircase of yesteryear.

Imagine spending the night in one of the opulent bedrooms formerly occupied by a Hanson family member, or enjoying a delicious breakfast in the grand dining room where many turn of the century dignitaries would have undoubtedly been entertained. Snuggle up with a good book on an antique down filled sofa in the parlor/library, or warm yourself by the roaring fire in the living room fireplace on a cold winter’s eve. In summer months, peruse the lovely gardens and the large plush lawn surrounding this Victorian home. In early Spring aromatic lilacs surround the yard on three sides.
